The best part about scoping out the hair, makeup and nail looks backstage at New York Fashion Week is that we’re constantly inspired to try new looks based on the ones the fabulous artists come up with. And, for the next few days we’ll be sharing the ones that we loved and how to recreate them at home (if you so dare).
Up first: The monochromatic makeup and gold dipped nails seen at the SUNO show. Understated, but very cool in a I’m-not-trying-too-hard way. The look was inspired by gypsy school girls, according to makeup artist Alice Lane.
Lane swiped Maybelline New York Face Studio Master Glaze in Make a Mauve, $9.99 on eyes and lips with a dab of Maybelline New York Baby Lips in Quenched, $3.99 dabbed over top to add some sheen. So easy and effortless.
The nails looked like they were just dipped in matt gold polish. Manicurist Honey Nailz coated the nails with a shiny top coat and just haphazardly painted on a messy French tip using gold polish (Maybelline New York Color Show Nail Lacquer in Bold Gold, $3.99).
To complement the nails, the parts on the middle-parted hairstyles were coated in gold makeup (can’t tell from this photo, but they were). Not sure I’d try this last bit at home, but it totally worked on the runway.
