If you like the idea of a halo braid, but don’t have the time, hair length or know-how to create one, this half halo braid, is a great alternative.
The style is easy to create and has a very similar vibe as the full halo. I did a super quick version before work yesterday. It’s messier than I would have liked, but for an easy daytime style, it works. Here’s how to recreate it:
Step 1: Part your hair down the middle.
Step 2: Clip one side of your hair out of the way.
Step 3: French braid (read my go-to tips on how to French braid your own hair here) the opposite side of your head starting at ear height. As you braid, direct your hair toward the opposite side of your head. Secure the ends of your hair with a small clear elastic.
Step 4: French braid the opposite side of your head following the instructions from Step 3.
Step 5: Tuck the tail of one braid under (as if you’re folding it in half) and secure the folded braid to the opposite side of your head using bobby pins.
Step 6: Repeat on the second braid.
Step 7: Clean up any flyaway hairs around your face with a little hairspray on a finger tip. Or use the John Frieda Full Repair Touch-Up Flyaway Tamer, $9.99 that I used. The product is seriously genius.
