A Beauty Book You Should Buy, Part One

how-to-look-expensive-coverLet me start by professing my love for makeup and beauty books. I have a large stash that I’ve collected over the years and I refer to them often for tips and inspiration. However, in all my years of reading and reviewing books, I have never read one like this one: cover to cover in one sitting.

How To Look Expensive, A Beauty Editor’s Secrets to Getting Gorgeous Without Breaking the Bank, $25, is written by the ultimate beauty editor, Andrea Pomerantz Lustig. She’s not talking about the hoity-toity, show-off expensive, but “chic and understated, polished and professional, your personal best,” expensive.

I loved it so much that I couldn’t put it down. This book is easy to read with basically everything you might want to know about hair, skin and makeup — with product recommendations to boot. Pomerantz Lustig offers practical tips from the industry’s very best makeup artists, stylists, colorists and Dermatologists. With sections like, “Four Chic Ponytails That Will Make You Look Luxe,” and “Five Lipsticks Mistakes That Cheapen Your Makeup And How To Avoid Them,” you will be certain to find tips that you can use. And you don’t have to be part of the 1% to do it.
