3 Wearable Spring Makeup Trends I Can’t Wait to Show Off

Spring is in the air (today anyway), so here’s a sneak peak of my favorite trends for the coming months. While the spring 2012 catwalks were full of bold looks — extreme smoky eyes, look-at-me red lips, and over-the-top spidery lashes — my favorites fall on the subtle side of the spectrum.  Simple. Pretty. And best of all: easy.

The Cat Eye: I love a liquid liner cat eye, and I’m still doing my best to apply it like the pros do, but seeing the fabulous looks all over the runways was all the motivation I needed to practice. There were many variations, from ’50s bombshell to ultra-modern, but the ultimate for me was a thin, double flicked line. It gives off a sweet sophistication that is perfect for day or night.

Simply Bronzed Glow: Fresh, peachy bronze faces were all over the runways and made me crave the feeling of soaking up the sun, face up, eyes closed. Whether the bronzer was dusted high on the cheekbones or underneath them for a contouring effect, the result was the same: a beautiful, healthy glow.

Ladylike Nails: While nail trends are getting more and more complicated and even extreme, I was attracted to the simple looks we saw in some of the spring collections: From long, tapered nails painted in a sophisticated sheer pastel pink at Zac Posen to classic red seen at Jason Wu, you really can’t go wrong when you stick to the basics.

Will you try these looks or are you hoping to sport something more daring? I hope you try both!
