Beauty Problem Solver of the Week: First Aid Beauty Smooth Shave Cream

The Product: First Aid Beauty Smooth Shave Cream, $16.50 (for 6.8 oz)

Why: Finding a great, more natural alternative to those classic cans of shaving cream isn’t easy. If they have a great scent and pump bottle they don’t lather at all or give your legs the coverage they need to get a super smooth shave. Or they might coat your legs nicely, but have an icky scent. I’ve tried many of them and so far there are only two I really like — one of them being this First Aid Beauty product. When you squeeze the cream out of the tube it seems like it might have more of a lotion texture, but once you start to rub it between your fingers or directly on your legs, it begins to froth up a bit to give you a slightly more classic shaving cream experience. And, a little goes a long way. It doesn’t have much of a scent, which I like, but it’s loaded with good-for-your-skin ingredients like glycerin and argan oil (for moisture), tea tree oil and aloe (to heal and help soothe skin) and antioxidants, which help protect skin by fighting free radicals. Even better, it excludes parabens, added colors or harsh chemicals. What’s not to like?
