Why: I have taken a vow to take better care of my hands. I’m very hangnail prone and have chronically dry hands year round, so it was necessary. And, in order to honor this vow, I’ve had to add an extra step to my usual hand care routine. In addition to applying cuticle oil nightly before slathering my hands with a rich hand cream, and applying lotion after every single hand washing during the day, I have started to exfoliate them a couple times a week — once a week if it’s a really hectic one.
I’ve been using this pomegranate, citrus and fig-scented scrub, which contains three sizes of natural scrubbing beads. You apply it by rubbing your hands together (like you’re applying lotion) and you let it set for two to three minutes before rinsing it off. Post rinsing my hands felt super smooth and remained that way for a few days. I’ve been delighted with the results — no more scales and seriously reduced hangnails. I keep it on my nightstand to remind me to use it before I apply my cuticle oil and lotion. Yes, my nightstand looks like a beauty apothecary.
Oh, and thanks to the festive outer packaging and seasonal ingredients, I think this would also make a perfect hostess gift. Pair it with the matching hand lotion, which contains antioxidants and shea butter, in addition to argan and grapeseed oils, and you’re sure to delight any hard-to-please holiday-party hostess.
