We’ve had a couple of foggy, cloudy days here in Los Angeles. I know, poor us. Gray days like these really make mood boosting all the more challenging, which is why this week, I used two spirit-lifting products: Lather Pink Grapefruit & Ginger Illuminating Créme, $22 and Lather Pink Grapefruit & Ginger Sugar Scrub, $18. Just typing the names brightens my day.

The scrub is a delicious mix of a large-grained sugar, botanical extracts like olive, green tea, licorice root and arnica (to calm skin), aloe vera (to soothe skin) and grapefruit and ginger essential oils, which (obviously) fill your shower with the most uplifting, invigorating natural scent. And, the scrub also leaves skin soft and hydrated. If you’re not a coffee drinker, this is a great way to get your buzz on in the AM.

The cream has an equally fabulous scent, thanks to the same essential oils, which is absolutely subtle enough to wear to the office. It’s not sugary-sweet at all. It dries down to what I would call a sparkly ginger scent. And, speaking of sparkly, this contains natural mica, which adds a subtle shimmer to your skin. Just enough to make it glow. But that’s not all — the cream is also deeply hydrating (though not greasy feeling) thanks to the inclusion of shea butter and avocado oil.

When used together, these products not only make a blah day brighter, but they also make skin look and feel fabulous. I’m hooked.

What’s really fun, too, is that Lather is hosting an original recipe contest based on these products. If you have a great salad, side, main dish, drink or dessert recipe that contains both grapefruit or ginger, email it to recipes@lather.com by November 7th, 2011 at 11:59pm. There are beautiful prizes involved. See Lather contest details. Good luck!
