How to Recreate Emma Stone’s Gunmetal Smoky Eye Makeup Look

Scroll down to content

On Tuesday night the gorgeous Emma Stone hit the red carpet for the Giorgio Armani and Vanity Fair dinner wearing, of course, a fabulous metallic Giorgio Armani dress. She paired the dress with smoldering metallic eye makeup look (very on-trend for fall) that I would be wearing at this moment if I had anywhere to be but in front of my computer. I will definitely be wearing this look come Saturday though. Here’s how I plan to create it and how you can, too …

Step 1: Even out your skin tone with a sheer, illuminating foundation. Try Lancome Teint Miracle, $37.

Step 2: Apply concealer where you need it to cover circles or spots. Try Clé de Peau Beauté Concealer, $70. Expensive, but worth every penny.

Step 3: Sweep a peachy-colored blush from the apples of your cheeks to your  your hairline. Try Tarte Amazonian Clay 12-Hour Blush in Blissful, $25.

Step 4: Apply a champagne-colored shimmery shadow base from lash lines to brows. Try Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion in Sin, $19.

Step 5: Sweep a silver powder shadow from lash lines to creases, blending it just beyond your creases. Sweep the same shade along your lower lash lines using an angled brush. Try L’Oreal Paris Studio Secrets Professional Color Smokes Eye Shadow, $5.99. Use the number four shade.

Step 6: Blend a charcoal hued shadow (use the number two shade in the above-mentioned palette) into your creases and along the outer half of your top and bottom lash lines. Blend well.

Step 7: Line your upper and lower inner rims (waterlines) with black pencil. Try MAC Powerpoint Eye Pencil in Engraved, $15. Not sure how to do this? Watch me demonstrate how to line the inner rims of your eyes.

Step 8: Apply a coat of black mascara on top and bottom lashes. Apply a second coat to your bottom lashes to further emphasize them. Try CoverGirl LashBlash Volume Blasting Mascara in Very Black, $7.79.

Step 9: Line your lips with a nude lip liner and fill them in completely. Try Wet n Wild Color Icon Lip Liner Pencil in Brandywine 666, $1.

Step 10: Apply a bit of sheer peachy gloss on top of the liner. Try Make Up For Ever Lab Shine Star Collection Gloss in S24, $18.

The peachy cheeks and lips make what could be a more over-the-top and dramatic makeup look much more sweet and wearable. Love.
