Get The Look: Gwyneth Paltrow At The Iron Man 3 Premiere

gwyneth-paltrow-iron-man-3-premiere-02Gwyneth’s risque side-revealing dress got most of the attention from last week’s Iron Man 3 premiere, but her gorgeous makeup was what won me over. The look was fresh and clean, yet totally red-carpet worthy. Chanel celebrity makeup artist Angela Levin painted this pretty look — here are her steps for how to get the look yourself.

angels-make-up-collagen-padsStep 1- Moisturize in Layers: Prep your skin with a moisturizing serum, (Levin used Chanel Hydra Beauty Serum, $98). Then, to brighten and tighten your eye area, apply collagen pads like Angels Make Up Collagen Pads, $20, under your eyes. Finally, grab a sponge and apply a primer, like Cinema Secrets Ultimate Foundation Primer, $28 to your face and neck.

chanel-perfection-lumiere-long-wear-flawless-fluidStep 2- Add Foundation: With a foundation brush, dab a small amount of foundation, like Chanel Perfection Lumiere Long-Wear Flawless Fluid Sunscreen Makeup Broad Spectrum SPF 15, $55, all over your face, including your neck.

chanel-moisturizing-bronzing-powderStep 3- Go Über-Natural with Blush: On the cheeks, Levin kept it natural and you should too. Apply a bronz-y/nude-shade of cream blush, (she used Joe Blasco Blush Cream in Natural Blush, $26), and then dust your face with a bronzing powder like Chanel Moisturizing Bronzing Powder in Desert Corail, $50.

chanel-quadra-eye-shadow-in-LiliumStep 4 – Wear Green-Grey Eye Shadow: Line your eyes with a dark green-grey shadow, then blend upward to the brow bone using a lighter lime-y green and end with a shimmery pink shade under the brow bone as a highlight. Levin used Chanel Quadra Eye Shadow in Lilium, $59. Next, grab a jumbo creamy black eye pencil, like NYX Jumbo Eye Pencil in Black Bean, $4, lining your upper lash line and smudging it with a q-tip for an intense smoky effect.

chanel-nourishing-mascara-baseStep 5- Use Lots of Mascara: Prime your lashes (Levin used Chanel Nourishing Mascara Base, $30), and then apply three — yes, three — layers of thickening, lengthening, and curling combination mascara in black, like Chanel Inimitable Intense Mascara in Noir, $30, on the upper lashes. Then paint one layer on your lower lashes.

sephora-retractable-brow-pencilStep 6- Fill In Your Brows: Pencil in your brows to give them definition. Levin used Sephora Retractable Brow Pencil, $12.

chanel-glossimer-in-rose-savageStep 7- Gloss it Up: Use a light sparkling rose shade shade, like Chanel Glossimer in Rose Savage, $30.

Hot For Pink: Makeup That Gives Back

Buying makeup can make you feel really good — especially when it supports a cause that’s close to your heart. October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, so check out some of our favorite beauty finds that donate a portion of the proceeds to fighting the good fight. So shop away.

Sephora Collection Breast Cancer Awareness Makeup Palette, $25

A $165 value, this limited edition palette has everything you ever need in a makeup palette — 36 shadows, 12 lipsticks, and 6 blushes — I mean, look at it, it’s major, right? Sephora is donating $2 from the sale of each palette to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation (BCRF).

Bobbi Brown Pink Peony Set Illuminating Bronzing Powder & Mini Face Blender Brush, $45

This sheer illuminating powder has micro pearls to give skin a natural-looking glow. The mini face blender brush is perfect for use on your cheekbones. Bobbi Brown is donating $10 from the sale of each power set to BCRF.

Clinique Chubby Stick Moisturizing Lip Colour Balm in Plumped Up Pink, $16

Clinique made it’s number one selling lip product — and my personal favorite every day tinted balm — in an exclusive pink shade just for breast cancer awareness. And the pink carrying case is ideal for storing all your other favorite glosses, balms and sticks. $3 from the sale of each of these limited-edition goodies goes to benefit BCRF.

Deborah Lippmann Nail Lacquer in Shape Of My Heart, $16

This sheer pink polish is a sweet sheer blush for your nails, so if you’re looking for an every day shade, this is it. Not only is it pretty, it’s also healthy for your nails: green tea extracts and protein-building Biotin along with other natural extracts strengthen nails and prevent ridges. Ten percent of each sale is donated to Hoag Breast Care Center in Southern California.

Sonia Kashuk Proudly Pink Five-Piece Purse Brush Set, $16

These pink-bristeled professional quality makeup brushes are the only brushes you’ll ever need. And with a Powder/Blusher Brush, Crease Brush, Synthetic Foundation/Concealer Brush, Small Eyeshadow Brush and Bent Eyeliner Brush, you’ll have everything you need for on-the-go touch-ups. Sonia Kashuk donates 15 percent of the purchase price to benefit BCRF.

Beauty Mood Booster of the Week: Sephora Collection Eyelash Curler

Confession: I never curl my eyelashes. For one, I have zero time to spare, so this is the one corner I cut when it comes to my makeup routine. Two, my lashes have a natural curl to them, so it’s not an essential step for me. But, I have friends and colleagues who wouldn’t dare dream of coating their lashes with mascara before curling them. The simple act of clamping your lashes between the genius little metal devices called eyelash curlers can instantly open up your eyes, and make your lashes look longer and flirty.

That’s why, when I caught a glimpse of these adorable Sephora Collection Eyelash Curlers, $16, which come in assorted bright colors, I had to share them. Not only will they make your lashes appear perkier, but they’ll simply be more fun to use thanks to their candy colored hues. I might just have to work this step back in to my routine after all.
