I’m Kristen Oldham Giordani, the beauty editor behind Beauty Editor On Call. What, you ask, makes me qualified to call myself a “beauty editor”? Well, for the past 11 years I have devoted every working (and non working) minute to creating beauty content for magazines like Seventeen (I held the snazzy title of beauty director) and CosmoGIRL! (worked my way up from editorial assistant to beauty editor), and websites like TotalBeauty.com (I just recently left my post as executive editor).

In the process of creating content for these sites I got to know and befriend tons of top beauty experts in their fields, think dermatologists, hairstylists, makeup artists, aestheticians, manicurists and even trichologists (hair/scalp gurus). The knowledge they have shared with me is safely filed away in my brain – to the point that if friends, family members or readers have a beauty question, I can usually come up with some sort of answer that is legit and backed in science (if applicable). I’m like a walking, talking beauty wiki – not to toot my own horn or anything, but I think a few people may agree with me. Hey ABC asked me to dish out beauty scoop on Good Morning America Now more than once – that’s gotta mean something, right?

In addition to the know-how I’ve picked up from experts, I’ve also spent a lifetime trying – with success and failure – tons of hairstyles, makeup looks … you name it. People to this day are always shocked that I can French braid my own hair – in more ways than one, make my pasty skin look believably sun-kissed and give myself a spa-worth pedicure.

This is all a long winded way of saying that I am, hopefully without a doubt in your mind, qualified at dishing out beauty advice and answering your pressing beauty questions. That’s not to say I won’t lean on an expert from time to time. Hey, they’re professionals in their field for a reason. But I will do my best to help keep your beauty mishaps to a minimum – or at least prevent them next time, and in the process help you make the most of your nature-given beauty though helpful videos, Q&A sessions and tips. I’m your on call beauty editor – so put me on speed dial (er, I mean, bookmark me) stat!

I’m Carrie Stern Kleiner, the other Beauty Editor behind Beauty Editor On Call. I love writing about beauty mostly because answering questions and helping you, my darling readers, find products and useful tips that make you feel pretty is what I life for. And, I’m a total makeup and beauty junkie to boot. Like Kristen, I’ve worked as a beauty editor in NYC for the past 11 years, most recently as a freelance editor, writing for The Knot, Fitness, TotalBeauty.com and New York magazine. Prior to that I filled the beauty pages of Quick & Simple and YM, two now sadly defunct magazines, with gorgeous spreads of beauty how-tos and tips. Though I’m no TV star, I have appeared as a go-to beauty expert for local New York news shows including the Today Show. I’m also the mom of two beautiful kiddos, so if you’ve got pregnancy or mom-related beauty questions, I’m your gal. For more info about moi, check out these 10 fun facts about yours truly. And please, email us your questions, thoughts and ideas. We’d love to hear from you!

Do you think it’s safe to buy beauty products from a website such as Amazon?

  2. I love your blog! I hope you don’t mind, I’m adding you to my blogroll :-D

  3. I’m so excited to follow this blog! From one beauty junkie to another…thanks!!

  4. Hi Kristin! I LOVE your site! I actually applied to a position (ok, that’s an understatement — my dream position) at TotalBeauty.com this past September. What a small world that you worked there AND Seventeen Magazine, the gateway magazine to my love of all things beauty. I’m a beauty blogger too, but my writing is nowhere near your level! Do you have any tips for me? You do have a lot more years in this biz :-) ! Anyways, thank you for your amazing post on how to do your bouncy blowout with hot rollers. I’m a huge fan of rollers, too.

  5. Wendy,

So glad you like the blog and specifically the post about the bouncy blowout — hot rollers really are the best. Email me sometime and we’ll chat about the biz: beautyeditoroncall@gmail.com. Thanks for reaching out!
