The soft flowing, brushed out waves, created by stylist Matthew Curtis for the Billy Reid spring 2013 show was inspired by the rich girl in the country club. You know, the one that doesn’t care about any of the fuss, but still looks gorgeous. I love these curls, but off the runway, how do you make them last? On my hair they fall out in two seconds. To make the curls hold through anything, Curtis shared this secret: he applied mousse (he used Tresseme 24 Hour Body Foaming Mousse, $6) to dry hair through the whole head, from scalp to ends, then blow-dried it through to create more hold and leave hair smoother and softer.
After that, he curled it with a big-barrel curing iron, set the curls all over the head, and then brushed them out. Next time I wear curls, I’m definitely going to give this a try.
